March 2019 Meeting Minutes

The meeting of High Country Handiworkers was called to order at 7:11 p.m. on March 11, 2019 by President Brooke Carlson. 

The pledges were led by Marley Gebhardt, Victoria Freeland, and Ethan Osusky.

Roll call was taken by Secretary Grace Gray and members were asked to stand up when their name was called. We also played “Know your Fellow Club Members” game.

Cael Claude moved to approve the minutes posted on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED. 

The treasurer’s report was given by Lizzy Fetzer: checking = $8,119.31 and savings = $2,325.25.

The reporter’s report was given by Walker Cameron. February’s meeting report was submitted to the Coloradoan and Reporter-Herald as well as social media and the club’s website. 

The sunshine report was presented by Cael Claude. We had 11 February birthdays. 

Lacey Adams gave the Cloverbud report. The Cloverbuds learned about kinetic sand and what makes it kinetic, they also had dirt cups as a snack. 

Leader’s Report:

Trisha Claude, Food & Nutrition Leader, is planning a field trip to AKA Kitchen in Loveland. No date has been scheduled yet. The next Foods project meeting will be at the McKee Building on Monday, April 1.

Important upcoming dates are: 7/2 Shotgun 5 Stand County Shoot; 7/9 Shotgun Trap County Shoot; 7/13 Archery County Shoot; 7/15 Fair Entry Deadline; 7/20 .22 Rifle County Shoot, Dog Show, Muzzleloading County Shoot; 7/21 Dog Show, Air Rifle and Air Pistol County Shoots;  7/27 Larimer County Fair Parade; 7/30 Interview Judging. 

The club also went over another topic regarding Parliamentary Procedure as presented by leader Rob Ryan.

Old Business:

4-H Carnival – The club had over 5 thousand tickets from their booths. Our club sold 3,605 pre-sold tickets.

Field Trip – Lacey Adams is planning a field trip to Sweetheart Lanes in Loveland on April 27. Admission cost for club members and leaders will be covered by the club. Family members will be $11.25 per person.  A SignupGenius will be on the club website.

New Business:

Fair Awards – A motion was made and approved to donate $385 to sponsor fair awards.

Parade Theme – The Larimer County Fair Parade Committee has reached out to clubs to ask for ideas for the parade theme. If you have one in mind, contact Cindy. 

Club T-Shirt Design – The club reviewed and voted on 12 t-shirt designs. A previous club design was chosen by vote, and the club also voted on the color gray. The expense of t-shirts is covered by the club for club members, including Cloverbuds and leaders.  The order form will be available on the club website soon.

Demonstration Night – Club members agreed that they would like to hold a demonstration night on a Friday evening with the club providing pizza. The date is yet to be determined.

Demonstrations: 

  • JD Becker gave a demonstration on what he feeds his market steers.
