The meeting of the High Country Handiworkers was called to order at 7:05 p.m. on May 13, 2019 by President Brooke Carlson. 

The pledges were led by Stanley and Sullivan Rhoades.

Roll call was taken by Secretary Grace Gray and the question asked was, “What are your summer plans?” 

Andrea Newby moved to approve the minutes as posted on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED. 

The treasurer’s report was given by Lizzy Fetzer: checking = $5,943.42, savings = $3,955.51.

The reporter’s report was given by Walker Cameron. April’s meeting report was submitted to the Coloradoan and Reporter-Herald as well as social media and the club’s website. 

The sunshine report was led by Eden Copeland. We had two May birthdays. 

Lacey Adams gave the Cloverbud report. Jackie Easthouse, Outdoor Skills Leader, visited the Cloverbuds and talked to them about different animal tracks and scat. They also played animal bingo and had trail mix as a snack.

Leaders Report: 

We discussed the importance of 4-H dress code. Items to be aware of in particular: guys can’t wear hats in meetings, watch the slogans on t-shirts, girls be aware of their tops and shorts now that the weather is warm.

Rob Ryan discussed more parliamentary procedure and discussed the different types of voting. 

Trinity Dunham received a $300 award from the Carmen Johnson Memorial for her goat project and Walter Buckardt received $200 for his woodworking project.

Old Business: 

Bowling Field Trip – Members had fun. It was a success.

McKee Building Painting Community Service – We need more signups for the McKee Building painting on June 1 from 9 a.m–1 p.m. This community service is for members in 7th grade or older and their parents.

Cake Decorating Contest – Participants in the Cake Decorating Contest told about their cakes. Eden Copeland was given a special sportsmanship award for helping another participant.

New Business: 

Club T-shirts – Club t-shirts are in and available to pick up.

Project Manuals – Manuals are in and ready to be picked up.

Fair Parade Theme – The theme for the Larimer County parade is “From Wagon Wheels to Ferris Wheels.” We will need a float committee at the June meeting.

Performing Arts Contest – Everyone is invited to participate. Registration is due on May 22, 2019.

• Doug Porter, How to stencil and carve wood.
• Lizzy Fetzer, How to show dogs.
• Sullivan and Stanley Rhoades, Essentials for bottle lambs.
• Lylah Becker, Importance of spending time with your market hog.

Doug Porter moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:05 p.m. Seconded and APPROVED.
