The meeting of the High Country Handiworkers was called to order at 7:05 p.m. on March 9, 2020 by President Josh Ryan.
The pledges were led by Walker Cameron and Alexis Grundy.
Roll call was taken by Leader Cindy Buckardt and the question asked was “What are your plans for Spring Break?”
Walker Cameron moved to approve the minutes. Seconded and APPROVED.
The treasurer’s report was given by Clara Coats: Checking = $5,473.55 and Savings = $3,959.30.
No reporter’s report was given.
The sunshine report was led by Kathryn Cox and Wyatt Grundy. We had four March birthdays. A card for Leslie was passed around to thank her for sharing at the last meeting.
The Cloverbud report was given by Kinzie Copeland. The Cloverbuds learned about insects and played bug bingo. They had Babybel cheese that looked like bugs.
We had a guest speaker, Rachel Metcalf and her mother Robyn. She talked about her entomology project and how she will be doing a series of workshops.
Leaders Report:
4-H Carnival – Cindy said thank you to all adults who helped fill in during the carnival.
Club Leadership – Anita Ballinger has chosen to join another club and will no longer be a leader in our club.
Parliamentary procedure instruction was led by Rob Ryan on how to address the chair and definitions of other parliamentary procedure elements.
Old Business:
Carnival Recap – Several of the members gave reports on working at the carnival and their experiences.
Our club collected a total of 4,989 tickets from our booths, which equals 1,827 people who played, and a total of $623.63. The shooting sports booths collected a total of 2,109 tickets equal to 883 people.
Members in our club who sold the most pre-sell tickets are Walter Buckardt (537 tickets), Alexis Grundy (425), Liam Babcock (275), Walker Cameron (130), Willow Cameron (130), Eden Copeland (125). Our club sold a total of 3,387 tickets.
The live auctions raised over $11,000, and Cindy is hoping the carnival reached its overall goal of raising over $50,000!
Enrollment – The deadline for new members to enroll March 16, 2020. This is also the deadline to add or drop projects.
New Business:
Club Shirts – Sharel Cameron gave a report on the club t-shirts and how to order them. New members, leaders, and Cloverbuds each get one shirt or hoodie for $10 off. Returning members and adults can purchase at full-price. The order form will be on the website.
Demonstration Night – The club discussed having a demonstration night in June. Cindy will determine a date.
There were no demonstrations. Cindy asked Walker Cameron to do a demonstration next month and explain how it’s done.
