June 2021 Meeting Minutes

The High Country Handiworkers meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. on June 14, 2021 by Vice President Nate Rogers at the McKee Building at The Ranch.

The pledges were lead by Liam Babcock, Willow Cameron, Georgia Lynch, Jayden Bielenberg, Kiera Cornett, Aiden Cornett, Kinzie Copeland, CharLee Davis, Troy Davis, and Carter Lambert.

Roll call was taken by Cindy Buckardt. The question was, “Have you started your e-Records?”

Walker Cameron moved to approve the secretary’s report for May as posted on the club website. The motion was seconded and APPROVED.

The treasurer, Clara Coats, was not present. Cindy gave the treasurer report. In the checking account we have $3,549.33, in the savings account we have $6,331.93. The CD has $2,062.35 (interest earned in the second quarter was $0.76).

CharLee Davis had no reporter’s report.

For the sunshine report, we had four birthdays and we sang “Happy Birthday.” Nick Freeland, Justin Grundy, and Lylah Becker all recently graduated high school. We have three members traveling to Grand Island, Nebraska for the National Shooting Sports competition: Nate Rogers, Nick Freeland, and Walker Cameron. Also, Stephanie Morrison’s brother, David Smith, lost his home in the tornado on June 8. Gavin Johnson moved to donate $100 to the family. Seconded and APPROVED.

The Cloverbuds made flower pots, played BINGO, and practiced the pledge at the meeting in May.

Fashion Revue – The Fashion Revue will be on July 28. Cloverbuds can participate.

Dress Code – Remember that the 4-H dress code applies when going to any 4-H event. The dress code is posted on the Resources page on hch4h.org.

Goat Workshop – Morgan Copeland and Lexi Grundy talked about the goat workshop. They learned how to clip their goats and about showmanship.

For parliamentary procedure, we talked about the process of coming to a vote. You need to have someone make a motion, have another person second it, have a discussion, and finally vote.

Old Business:

Fair Parade – We need a gooseneck to pull the trailer and Grundys volunteered. We will decorate the night before, July 30.

New Business:

Fair Awards Budget – Brooke Carlson moved to go above our budget by $200, bringing our total on Fair awards to $1,200. Seconded and APPROVED.

Discounted Rodeo and Carnival Tickets – 4-H families can order discounted rodeo tickets for August 9 for $10, and discounted and carnival wristbands. The order form is on the website.

Lon Hagler Community Service – We will be painting picnic benches at Lon Hagler. We can set the date, so we talked about waiting until Fall.

FAFLC Fireworks Stand: Members can volunteer to work at the stand as a community service project between June 26 and July 4. A SignUpGenius will be available on Signups on the website.

  • Marley Gebhardt: Global Citizenship about Ireland,
  • Josh Ryan: Preparing goats for the show ring,
  • Ethan and Nolan Osusky: Leathercraft tools.

Walker Cameron moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded and APPROVED. Adjourned at 8:49 p.m.
