April 2022 Meeting Minutes

The High Country Handiworkers meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. on April 11, 2022 by President Josh Ryan at the McKee Building at The Ranch.

The pledges were led by Chloe and Abigail Jones, Austin Kirk, Kinzie Copeland, Salem DeLeau, Madeline Leppert, and Leslie Irvine.

Roll call was taken by secretary Eden Copeland. This month’s question was “What is your favorite things about 4-H?”

Morgan Copeland moved to approve the secretary’s report from March as posted on the club website. The motion was seconded and APPROVED.

Treasurer Trinity Dunham presented the treasurer report. In the checking account, we have $858.33, in the savings account we have $5,588.93, and the CD has $2,064.13.

The reporter, Morgan Copeland, submitted the club report to the local newspapers.

Avery Kemper, Kinzie Copeland, and Victoria Freeland led the sunshine report for the April birthdays.

Lacey Adams, the Cloverbud leader, presented the Cloverbud report. In March, the Cloverbuds played carnival games and learned how to fill out their own record books.

Leader’s Report: 

Manuals – There is no shooting sports manual this year. The Shooting Sports Leadership team made the decision to not purchase the manuals produced by Ohio State due to some conflicts with what Larimer County Shooting Sports Leaders instruct.

Beekeeping – The next meeting will be on April 20th at 6 p.m. A speaker will be there from the Butterfly Pavilion. Cloverbuds are welcome to attend.

Foods Project – Leader Amy Gebhardt is conducting meetings on the first Mondays of every month at 6:00 pm.

Shooting Sports – Practices have started for some disciplines. Make sure you are eligible and check the calendar for upcoming practices. The In-person Orientation is on April 16. The Zoom meeting was required first.

Cake Decorating – Watch for emails about the Cake Decorating Contest.

There was no parliamentary procedure report, but if you see that Cindy ever has the wrong date on the agendas, please tell her.

New Business:

Club T-shirts – There will be an order form on our website. The club will cover the cost of shirts for new members, new Cloverbuds, and new leaders, or the cost of a shirt towards a hoodie.

Lon Hagler Archery Range – There is a cleanup day on May 7.

All of the club members present at the meeting did a getting-to-know-everyone worksheet. Members talked and learned about fellow club members.

Demonstrations:

  • Katy Reeves: Archery safety equipment,
  • Logan Cumpsten: Miter box,
  • Tigran Sargsyan: What to bring to the fair for a pig,
  • Josh Ryan: Parts of a carburetor,
  • Paisley Dennis: Making a backer for air rifle,
  • Ari Sargsyan: Blocking a knitted garment. (Ari’s demonstration was through video, and can be found on the Members page on hch4h.org.

Annalisa Shrout moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded and APPROVED. Josh Ryan adjourned the meeting at 8:37 p.m.
