Information from the Ranch for the Larimer County Fair

Hello, 4-H Families.

The Ranch would like to welcome everyone to the 2023 Larimer County Fair and PRCA Rodeo. Please read the information below and see the map to help you find your way to the barns and exhibit buildings through the construction areas.

See you there,

Diane Kern

We are excited to have you at the 2023 Larimer County Fair and PRCA Rodeo! During the 2023 fair, progress on The Ranch Master Plan will be visible through construction activities across the complex. We are excited for you to see the progress we’ve made over the last year and appreciate your patience as we evolve our facilities to meet the needs of our Larimer County community for many years to come.

Current Construction Activities

Crews at The Ranch are currently putting the finishing touches on the new Arena Circle and several new interior roadways. Arena Circle is now located on the outer edge of the parking areas to create new entrance and exit points on the southeast and northern boundaries of the property. This shift is designed to improve traffic flow throughout the complex and enhance the safety of visitors moving between facilities at The Ranch. Minor roads including Richard Rule Road, Show Ring Road and Clydesdale Parkway provide easy access to specific buildings and parking areas while the former Arena Circle is now a service road. The new Arena Circle opened in May 2023 and all three supporting roads are now open for the 2023 Fair.

Construction on the 4-H, Youth, and Community Livestock Arena began in August of 2022. Crews have been hard at work transforming an uneven dirt parking lot into a beautiful new arena for the Larimer County community. This arena will be available first and foremost to the community and will include a 125’x 200’ indoor arena, classrooms, livestock wash areas and educational facilities. The Community Arena is expected to be completed in January 2024.

As of July 2023, the west pavilion wash racks, restrooms and storefront in the MAC Equipment, Inc. Indoor Arena have been relocated to the west side of the pavilion and are operational for the 2023 fair. Work continues on the space between the east and west pavilions to expand the warm-up space to 90′ x 200′. This will more than double the warm-up space available to exhibitors and will extend the covered space the full length of the two pavilions. Crews recently erected the steel structure of the expanded area and are currently working to install the roof, insulation and interior walls. The anticipated completion of the warm-up arena is slated for January 2024.

Work also continues on the future RV camping locations on the northeast end of the complex. The new RV camping sites will eventually have utility hookups for sewer, water and electrical connections. These new RV camping amenities will provide additional capacity for exhibitors to enjoy during complex events. Some of these spaces will be available for dry camping without hookups for the 2023 fair and are anticipated to be fully complete in January 2024.

Access at The Ranch

Due to current construction and roadway updates, access to The Ranch Events Complex has shifted. With the new Arena Circle roadway now open, all visitors will enter and exit the complex from Fairgrounds Avenue through the new entrances at Arena Circle and Andalusian Drive. The former Arena Circle is now a service road and will not be available to through traffic. All visitors are reminded to follow all signage and flaggers to navigate the construction and access parking and trailer areas.

A section of the service road will be available to users and exhibitors at the McKee Building. Visitors to the McKee Building will need to enter from Fairgrounds Avenue at the new Arena Circle entrance. From Arena Circle, turn right on Clydesdale Parkway between parking lots A and B and right onto the Service Road. Signage will guide you to the McKee parking lot and building.

For access to the MAC Equipment, Inc. Indoor Arena, visitors should enter on Andalusian Drive and turn left on the newly opened Show Ring Road. This will bring trailers directly to the arena, barns and trailer parking area and will allow for smoother concurrent operations with other exhibitors at the fair.

Parking

Due to construction activities, parking at The Ranch has shifted compared to previous years. Parking will be available in Lots A-E, as well as overflow dirt and gravel parking in Lots Z, AA, and Trailer Parking Lots.  Consistent with previous years, parking will be free for all attendees and exhibitors at the Fair. We are currently working to add additional parking spaces for exhibitors and visitors in future years.

We appreciate your patience during this time and look forward to fostering many more positive memories for all fair exhibitors and visitors in years to come. We can’t wait to see you at the 2023 fair and hope you will be excited to see our community gain these amazing new improvements! Please remember to look for and follow all signage around campus to help you navigate your way through the Larimer County 2023 Fair and PRCA Rodeo.
