The High Country Handiworkers meeting was called to order at 7:07 p.m. on October 9, 2023 by President Josh Ryan at the McKee Building at The Ranch.
Rob Ryan announced that there would be a short informational meeting for the adults about our club’s status after the club meeting.
The pledges were led by Paige and Summer Box, Kinzie Copeland, Basil Price, Logan Cumpsten, Mason and Abby McNear, and Carter Lambert.
Roll call procedure: Please take your nametag from the alphabetized file box at the start of the meeting. At the end of the meeting, drop the name tags in the buckets at the exits of the room.
Kinzie Copeland moved to approve the minutes from July as submitted by Eden Copeland and posted on the club website. The motion was seconded and APPROVED.
Treasurer Gideon Rivera presented the treasurer’s report. In the checking account, we have $1,367.72, in the savings account we have $5,593.13 and the CD has $2,115.89.
Josh Ryan gave the reporter’s report in Avery Kemper’s absence. The meeting report was submitted to the local papers and posted to our club website and social media.
Willow Cameron and Charlie Gilmore led the sunshine report for the September and October birthdays. The club signed get-well cards for Suzanne Leypoldt, a club leader who recently had surgery.
The Cloverbuds leader Lacey Adams and junior leader Wesley Anzaldua talked about the July meeting. The Cloverbuds made their fair projects: flower pots decorated with stickers and paper flowers.
Leader’s Report:
Paid Parking at The Ranch – The Ranch has instituted paid parking for ticketed events at Blue Arena (formerly the Budweiser Event Center). It will use scanners to gather license plate information, similar to driving on E-470 or other toll roads. When a 4-H event takes place at the same time as a ticketed event, we will gather the Name, State of License Plate, and License Plate Number for all 4-H families in attendance. Otherwise, families will receive a bill.
Visual Arts – If you are interested in the visual arts project, talk with Karley Fitzgerald-Rivera and she will give you some information about the project and help you get started. The first meeting will be held in January.
Foods – The next meeting for the Foods project will be November 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the McKee Building.
Photography – No report.
Beekeeping – No report.
Scrapbooking – No report.
Clothing – Hanna Copeland spoke about plans for upcoming workshops. If you are interested in the clothing project, she is happy to answer questions.
Junior Leadership Club – Karley Fitzgerald-Rivera reported that the JLC is accepting new members ages 13 years and older.
Dog – Hailey McNear reported that orientation for the dog project will be held on January 29 at 6:00 p.m. Training will begin on February 12.
Shooting Sports – Premiums from county shoots are available now.

Old Business:
Community Service Projects – Our community service projects are currently on hold.
Fair Parade – Hanna Copeland reported on the parade and the club floats. We had good attendance and the kids had fun. One parent thought we should look at getting a larger trailer next year.
Projects Available for Pickup – Projects and record books that were not picked up from county or state fair were available at the meeting.
4-H Open House – Our club hosted a table at the open house on October 5. There was a steady stream of families and a lot of interest from families.
Club Charter – The club charter was revised, submitted, and accepted. The revised bylaws will be posted on the club website.
New Business:
Enrollment – Enrollment opens for the new year on October 16, 2023 on v2.4HOnline.com. Deadlines are February 1 for returning members and March 1 for new members. More information will be posted on the hch4h.org website. Leaders are encouraged to enroll right away. New leaders can start the approval process including references and a background check.
Achievement Night – The Larimer County 4-H Achievement Night is on November 3, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall at the McKee Building. Our club achievement night will be on November 13, 2023 at our club meeting.
4-H Foundation Craft Show – The Foundation is hosting a craft fair on December 2 and 3. Booth space is available at a discount for 4-H members and leaders.
Storage Space – Construction Supply House is offering to store all our club’s supplies and materials for $1 per year. Walker Cameron moved to rent the space for $1 per year. Seconded and APPROVED.
