June 2022 Meeting Minutes

The High Country Handiworkers meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. on June 13, 2022 by President Josh Ryan at the McKee Building at The Ranch.

The pledges were led by Salem DeLeau, Levi Shrout, and Liberty and Liza Bradbury.

Roll call was taken by club leader Cindy Buckardt.

Gideon Rivera moved to approve the secretary’s report from May as posted on the club website. The motion was seconded and APPROVED.

Treasurer Trinity Dunham presented the treasurer report. In the checking account, we have $2,912.81, in the savings account we have $5,588.93, and the CD has $2,064.13.

The club meeting report was submitted to the local papers by the club reporter, Morgan Copeland.

Avery Kemper and Victoria Freeland led the sunshine report for the June birthdays. We signed a sympathy card for a 4-H community member’s family. This year’s club members who graduated from high school were recognized: Trinity Dunham, Kassie Lines, Doug Porter, and Haley Erickson. Our club has two members who are competing at the National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships in Grand Island, Nebraska at the end of June: Walker Cameron for .22 Rifle and Nick Freeland for Air Rifle.

Cindy Buckardt presented the Cloverbud report. In May, the Cloverbuds planted seeds and played gardening Bingo.

Leader’s Report: 

Dress Code – There is a dress code for 4-H and you will get sent home if you do not abide by it. Shorts must be at least mid-thigh. For shooting sports, shoes must be closed-toed and no tank tops are allowed. The full 4-H dress code is here: https://co4h.colostate.edu/resources/ColoradoDressCode.pdf.

Shooting Sports – Hunter education class will be on June 25 and June 26. There are a few spots open. The online course is required to be completed before attending the in-person.

Photography – The next meeting is on Wednesday, June 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

Old Business:

Fair Parade – The theme is “Country Roots and Cowboy Boots.” The committee working on the float design will meet right after the club meeting. The club will create the float on Friday, July 29 for the parade on July 30.

Club Shirts – Our shirt order will be delivered next week.

New Business:

County Fair – Online Fair Entry and scheduling for interview judging will be available soon. There will be a Fair Entry In-Person Assistance event on June 29 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. to help members with the process.

Shooting Sports County Shoots – County shoot registrations will be on SignUpGenius. Watch for an email with the link for each discipline.

Discounted Rodeo Tickets and Carnival Wristbands – 4-H Night at the rodeo is on August 8. Our club places one order for tickets so we can sit together as a club. An email will be sent out with an order for the discounted rodeo tickets as well as discounted wristbands for the carnival for one day or the whole week.

  • Levi Shrout: Remote control car,
  • Lucy Shrout: Flouring a cake pan,
  • Preston Bajema: Visual arts project and what he likes to draw.

Trinity Dunham moved to adjourn the meeting. Seconded and APPROVED. Josh Ryan adjourned the meeting at 8:25 p.m.
