Lon Hagler Archery Range Community Service

“I pledge my hands to larger service…”

We utilize the Lon Hagler Archery Range for the archery practices our club hosts. This community service project is our way of saying thank you to the Big Thompson Bowhunters, the organization that maintains the archery range.

For this community service project, we will be painting! Please wear appropriate clothing that you can get dirty in.

The more hands, the quicker the work. We look forward to having your help on Saturday, October 23 at 9:00 a.m.

Please use the signup to RSVP.

Decorating the Parade Float

We’re decorating the parade float on Friday night at 6:00 p.m. at Construction Supply House (806 North 2nd Street, Berthoud, CO) We have two floats to work on. If your record books are finished, bring them for signing.

The parade starts at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. I should know where the float will be tomorrow and will let you all know. Please wear a club shirt and remember your water bottles.

Parents are welcome to ride the float or many of us sit at 246 South Cleveland—look for the sign out front that reads FAFLC on the east side of the street. Don’t forget to bring your chairs.

Fair Entry Survey

The Fair Entry system used this year was new to Larimer County, and we want to hear your thoughts about it. Please fill out the survey and leave your comments. We’ll gather the information and pass it on to the Extension Office and The Ranch/Fair Board. Click here to go to the Fair Entry Survey.

Interview Judging/Project Check-in

When you go to your interview on Tuesday, please remember the 4-H Dress Code. Also, before you sit down, reach your hand out to shake the judge’s hand and be sure to introduce yourself. Most importantly, RELAX!

Since we are using the Fair Entry software system for projects this year, a pink card will be attached to each project when it is checked in. But we recommend attaching a label with your name and the project just in case the card gets separated while at the Fair.

If your project is made to hang up, be sure to have a method of hanging attached so it can be displayed.

Volunteer at the Dairy Bar on Saturday, August 7

The Dairy Bar is the fundraiser for the Larimer County Junior Leader Club, which supports all the 4-H clubs within Larimer County through activities and
scholarships for member projects. The Dairy Bar will be open in the McKee Building during the Larimer County Fair, and also on August 3 during interview judging/project check-in.

At the July meeting, our club voted to work the Dairy Bar shifts on Saturday, August 7 from 10:00 a.m.–9:00 p.m. Each time slot allows for 6 members (ages 10+) and 2 parents.

2021 4-H Carnival Postponed

The Larimer County 4-H Foundation regrets to announce that the 4-H Carnival scheduled for March 6, 2021 has been postponed due to Health Department guidelines. We are working with The Ranch staff to schedule a tentative Carnival date for this Fall, probably October.

4-H Carnival tickets have already been printed with the date, so we’ve decided to proceed with the cash prize drawing on March 6, 2021. The drawing will include:

• one $200 prize,
• two $150 prizes,
• three $100 prizes.

Tickets for the Cash Drawing are Available Now!

Face-to-face sales and door-to-door sales are not allowed at this time, but 4-H members and clubs are selling tickets now using these options:

  • Option 1: Tickets can be purchased through the foundation website. Visit larimercounty4hfoundation.com/donate-today.html. Under “Activity,” select the “Carnival/Drawing” box. To give credit to a particular 4-H member or 4-H club, please include their name in the “Message for the Foundation” text box. Payments are accepted through PayPal. Ticket receipts will be sent to the purchaser.
  • Option 2: A request for tickets including the funds can be mailed to Larimer County 4-H Foundation, P.O. Box 270371, Fort Collins, CO 80527. Ticket receipts will be sent to the purchaser.
  • Option 3: Contact Cindy Buckardt at 970-481-7993 and order tickets with a credit card payment. You can also stop by her office at Construction Supply House: 806A North 2nd Street in Berthoud.

Use email, social media, text messaging, etc. to reach out and sell tickets to family and friends. Please remind people that the funds are used for assisting 4-H youth attending conferences and competitions, educational opportunities for both members and leaders, and program development and scholarships in Larimer County.

The Foundation Board of Trustees has elected to waive the requirement to sell a minimum of 25 tickets per 4-H member for 2021. However, we are encouraging each member to sell as many tickets as possible. We will be awarding cash prizes for the top five 4-H ticket sellers, as well as a cash prize for the 4-H club with the highest average of ticket sales per member. Prizes for top ticket sales: $100 for 1st, $80 for 2nd, $60 for 3rd, $50 for 4th, and $40 for 5th. An award of $100 will be presented to the club with the highest average ticket sales per member based on the club’s enrollment on January 30.

We understand this is a “different” situation than in past years, and appreciate your help in making it a success!
