Selling Carnival Tickets at King Soopers

Our club will be selling tickets at the King Soopers (Thompson Valley Towne Center in Loveland) from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 12 and Sunday, February 13. We’d like to have 6 volunteers for each time slot of 1 1/2 hours.

This is a great opportunity to sell your carnival tickets! Members usually sell their 25, and many more!

And please dress warmly—it can be chilly standing out there!

All About the 4-H Carnival

Since many of our members are new to 4-H, we wanted to explain a bit more about the upcoming 4-H Carnival.

This is Larimer County’s 63rd year holding the carnival, which raises funds for the 4-H Foundation. The fundraising goal for this year’s carnival is $50,000.

The carnival is organized by the 4-H Foundation, with the assistance of the county’s 4-H clubs. The 4-H Foundation uses the funds generated to support youth with scholarships, awards, registration fees and travel expenses for conferences and competitions, equipment for projects like shooting sports, leader training, and so much more.

4-H members sell tickets for $1 beginning in January and leading up to the carnival in March. These tickets give the purchaser an entry into the cash prize drawing as well as door prize drawings held throughout the day. The center portion of each ticket can be exchanged for two coupons to play the booths at the carnival. Game booth coupons are also sold on the day of the carnival for 25¢ each.

The Foundation asks that all 4-H members sell at least 25 tickets. By helping to support this fundraising effort, 4-H members are eligible for scholarships and assistance with expenses. And 4-H members are encouraged to sell MORE than their 25 tickets. The members who sell the most and the club with the highest average receive cash prizes for their efforts.

The 4-H clubs volunteer to create and work at carnival game booths, and carnival-goers pay coupons to play. Every player receives a prize for participating. A portion of the funds from the booths goes to the organizing club.

Members and their parents sign up to work the club’s booths, and this as well as selling tickets counts toward community service to be noted in their e-Record books for the fair.

A highlight of the day is two Live Auctions, held at 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. Local businesses, generous families, and the 4-H clubs put together items and baskets to be auctioned to raise funds. Half of the money generated by each club basket comes back to the donating club.

And no carnival would be complete without food! This year there will be a bake sale and some clubs will be selling carnival food at their booths. (The on-site concessions will not be available this year, so bring a lunch or snacks if you wish.)

Admission to the carnival and parking are free at the event.

The Larimer County 4-H Exchange Club is also sponsoring a dance to be held after the carnival at 6:00 p.m. in the McKee Building.

Be sure to invite your friends, family, and neighbors to come and have a wonderful, fun time and support 4-H!

This year, the Larimer County 4-H Carnival will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at the First National Bank Building at the Ranch (5280 Arena Circle, Loveland, Colorado 80538).

Cindy has carnival tickets available for all of the 4-H members to sell. Each member is encouraged to sell their 25, but we have more if you’re feeling ambitious! If you run out, contact Cindy for more. Cloverbuds are not required to sell tickets, but can if they wish.

Our club voted to donate three baskets for the Live Auction with the themes of Colorado/Sports, Sweets, and Camping/Outdoor Skills. Please bring items to be included in these baskets to the February club meeting.

Our club will also have four carnival booths: Iron Man, Toilet Paper Toss, Rubberband Guns, and Lollipop Pull. We ask that members and parents sign up to work a shift. The SignUpGenius is available on the Signups page. (Cindy is a Foundation board member and has many responsibilities on carnival day. We ask that parents lend their time and organization at the booths during the day.)

2021 4-H Carnival Postponed

The Larimer County 4-H Foundation regrets to announce that the 4-H Carnival scheduled for March 6, 2021 has been postponed due to Health Department guidelines. We are working with The Ranch staff to schedule a tentative Carnival date for this Fall, probably October.

4-H Carnival tickets have already been printed with the date, so we’ve decided to proceed with the cash prize drawing on March 6, 2021. The drawing will include:

• one $200 prize,
• two $150 prizes,
• three $100 prizes.

Tickets for the Cash Drawing are Available Now!

Face-to-face sales and door-to-door sales are not allowed at this time, but 4-H members and clubs are selling tickets now using these options:

  • Option 1: Tickets can be purchased through the foundation website. Visit larimercounty4hfoundation.com/donate-today.html. Under “Activity,” select the “Carnival/Drawing” box. To give credit to a particular 4-H member or 4-H club, please include their name in the “Message for the Foundation” text box. Payments are accepted through PayPal. Ticket receipts will be sent to the purchaser.
  • Option 2: A request for tickets including the funds can be mailed to Larimer County 4-H Foundation, P.O. Box 270371, Fort Collins, CO 80527. Ticket receipts will be sent to the purchaser.
  • Option 3: Contact Cindy Buckardt at 970-481-7993 and order tickets with a credit card payment. You can also stop by her office at Construction Supply House: 806A North 2nd Street in Berthoud.

Use email, social media, text messaging, etc. to reach out and sell tickets to family and friends. Please remind people that the funds are used for assisting 4-H youth attending conferences and competitions, educational opportunities for both members and leaders, and program development and scholarships in Larimer County.

The Foundation Board of Trustees has elected to waive the requirement to sell a minimum of 25 tickets per 4-H member for 2021. However, we are encouraging each member to sell as many tickets as possible. We will be awarding cash prizes for the top five 4-H ticket sellers, as well as a cash prize for the 4-H club with the highest average of ticket sales per member. Prizes for top ticket sales: $100 for 1st, $80 for 2nd, $60 for 3rd, $50 for 4th, and $40 for 5th. An award of $100 will be presented to the club with the highest average ticket sales per member based on the club’s enrollment on January 30.

We understand this is a “different” situation than in past years, and appreciate your help in making it a success!

Take Two: Sell 4-H Truck Raffle Tickets at the Junior Livestock Sale

Due to an error, we were not successful in our truck raffle ticket sales yesterday. We scrambled to get the required documentation done today so we can try to sell tickets at the Junior Livestock Sale on Friday. We don’t have final approval yet, but we’re hoping to soon.

If you are at all available to work a two-hour shift on Friday at Centennial Livestock, here are the time slots:

  • 9:00–11:00 a.m.
  • 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • 1:00–3:00 p.m.
  • 3:00–5:00 p.m.

Text Cindy at 970-481-7993 If you can plan to work one of the shifts. If it falls through, she will text and let you know.

All members and parents will need to wear a mask and keep your distance while selling.

Sell 4-H Truck Raffle Tickets at the Junior Livestock Sale

Our club annual fundraiser is selling truck raffle tickets to benefit the Colorado 4-H Foundation. Normally we do this during fair, however this year it was not possible.

We have arranged for the truck to be at Centennial Livestock on Wednesday so we can sell tickets during the livestock sale. We have a SignUpGenius to schedule volunteer times in two-hour time slots. There are four people per time slot, including parents and 4-H members.

For those new to the club, the Ford Motor Rocky Mountain Dealers Association donates a Ford F-150 truck to the Colorado 4-H Foundation, and raffle tickets are sold to raise funds for the State Foundation. They are $5 each or 5 for $20. We receive a portion of the sales back for our club. Our club uses the funds for club t-shirts, and we return a good portion of it back to Larimer County by supporting several of the county fair awards. We also support club members if they are attending special events like Washington Focus, leadership conferences, etc.

I hope you all will make an effort to help sell tickets. Wear your club shirt if you are able, and you will need a mask.

We also have tickets available for purchase online!
