July 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

The fair parade is on July 27 in downtown Loveland. The theme is “Fun for the Whole Herd.”

Our club painted benches at Lon Hagler as a community service. Our club is also gathering gently-used shoes for a community service.

Our club is encouraging members to help out at the Dairy Bar during fair in the McKee Building.

Discounted rodeo tickets and carnival wristbands are now available to order.

Members presented demonstrations about how to make an axolotl with clay, lacrosse history, making her apron, sheep equipment, woodburning, and textures for home decor.

This is our last meeting before fair. We will celebrate the end of the year with a picnic at Fairgrounds Park on September 9.

June 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

We recognized members who are graduating high school! 

We are planning for the fair parade. The theme is Fun for the Whole Herd!

Our club is gathering gently-used shoes for a community service.

Rodeo tickets and carnival wristbands are now available to order.

Members presented demonstrations about how to draw an axolotl, tools for beekeeping, how to clean a muzzleloader, how to make table saw pushers, how to present for fashion revue, how to make clay beads, how to make a pillow case, and garments made for the clothing project.

Members who haven’t done their demonstrations yet can do it at demonstration night on June 21

The next meeting will be on Monday, July 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building.

May 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

We had a special guest come to speak: Rachel Wildman. She is the Larimer County 4-H youth development specialist.

Our club is planning for the fair parade. The theme is Fun for the whole herd!

Members presented demonstrations about cats, how to score an archery target, bullet board, five favorite planes, and cake decorating.

Members who haven’t done their demonstrations yet can do it at demonstration night on June 21.

The next meeting will be on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building.

April 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

Our club had a very successful carnival! Some of our members had the highest ticket selling in the county. Our club’s members had the highest average sales per member: 64.54 tickets per member!

Market sheep/goat weigh day is coming up. Animals shown at fair need IDs uploaded to 4-H online. 

Members presented demonstrations about archery shooting tips, how to fold the American flag, how to gap a spark plug, and how to make thank you cards. 

The next meeting will be on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building.

March 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

The club had 7 game booths at the 4-H Carnival on March 2. A lot of kids and families played and had fun. We also sold our club baskets in the live auction.

The Larimer County Fair Parade theme has been chosen. It was submitted by our club: Fun for the Whole Herd.

Members presented demonstrations about building a bee nuc and building a bee quilt box.

The next meeting will be on Monday, April 15, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building.

February 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

Enrollment is due for new members by March 1. Visit v2.4Honline.com to enroll.

The Larimer County 4-H Carnival will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Members are selling tickets for playing carnival booths and to win a cash drawing. Tickets are $1 each. 

Members presented demonstrations about the anatomy of bees and how to stamp leather. 

After the meeting, members decorated heart cookies for Valentine’s Day.

The next meeting will be on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building.

January 2024 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, January 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

Enrollment is due for returning members by February 1 and for new members it is due by March 1. Visit v2.4Honline.com to enroll.

The Larimer County 4-H Carnival will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Members are selling tickets for playing carnival booths and to win a cash drawing. Tickets are $1 each. The club voted on booths and decided to do 7 games. We are gathering donation items for our club’s live auction baskets. The themes are cooking, LEGO, and outdoors.

Members presented demonstrations about how to make a fishing lure, model rockets, how to do a demonstration, party planning, how to take care of dogs’ teeth, and how to build a model tank. 

The next meeting will be on Monday, February 12, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee 4-H Building.

December 2023 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, December 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

Officers for the upcoming year were elected: President, Josh Ryan; Vice President, Hailey McNear; Secretary, Eden Copeland; Treasurer, Gideon Rivera; Reporter, Willow Cameron; Sunshine, Kinzie Copeland, Wesley Anzaldua, and Paige Box; Historian, Lilly McConnell and Grace McConnell.

The Larimer County 4-H Carnival will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024. The club voted on the themes for live auction baskets at the carnival. And the themes are outdoors, LEGO, and cooking.

The club completed a service project, wrapping presents for the Foster and Adoptive Families of Larimer County’s Christmas party, and we had a Christmas cookie exchange after.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee Building.

June 2023 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee Building at The Ranch in Loveland, Colorado. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.

Old business was discussed including the Fair Parade theme (Through the Decades), and club demonstration night on June 30 at 5:30 p.m. Each member is required to present a demonstration.

New business included a discussion about upcoming community service opportunities. The Fashion Revue is on July 26 at 7:00 p.m. and the Digital Photo contest is open now. There are two opportunities for livestock members to attend a mandatory meeting for members participating in the livestock sale. The dates are June 25 and July 9 at 4:00 p.m. We also discussed discounted tickets for the Fair rodeo and carnival wristbands. We will construct our club float for the parade on July 28, and the parade will be on July 29.

There were nine demonstrations at the meeting.

Leader reports included Beekeeping, Photography, Foods, Model Rockets, Scrapbooking, Clothing Construction, Dog, and Visual Arts.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:38 p.m.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee Building at The Ranch in Loveland.

May 2023 Meeting Report

The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee Building at The Ranch in Loveland, Colorado. The meeting was called to order at 7:11 p.m.

Old business was discussed including the upcoming MQA makeup date, the Fair Parade theme (Through the Decades), club t-shirts ordered, and club demonstration nights will be June 2 and June 30 at 5:30 p.m.

New business included a discussion about an upcoming community service project at Lon Hagler on May 13. The remaining project manuals were handed out. We discussed the traffic changes coming to The Ranch. We also discussed the importance of reading the Clover Connection, checking the calendar, and watching the club website for any changes or new information. The Cloverbuds will be having a field trip to the park for their next meeting on May 20.

There were five demonstrations at the meeting which included dog training, how to dispose of ammunition, parts of a horse hoof, making paper airplanes, and the parts of an ammunition round.

Leader reports included Beekeeping, Photography, Foods, Model Rockets, Clothing Construction, and Visual Arts. There was also a report about the Junior Leader Club and their next meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:54 p.m.
