Urban Ranchers Virtual Camp

In honor of the National Western Stock Show, Arapahoe County 4-H is running Urban Ranchers Virtual Camp through the month of January.

The Urban Ranchers Virtual Camp is a virtual, self-paced animal science camp that began on January 13, 2021.

The Urban Ranchers Camp brings the ranch to your living room! Through this virtual camp, youth will learn about agriculture, livestock, and animal care. Various farm animals will be featured throughout the program including cattle, chickens, ducks, goats, horses, pigs, and sheep. Youth go on virtual tours of cattle farms, learn how to milk a goat, and can even “virtually” ride a racehorse. Youth can enhance their experience by using the 2021 Ag Adventure Guide.

The program is geared toward youth ages 8–13 but all youth are welcomed!

The camp is completely FREE but we do ask for youth to register here: https://forms.gle/P2uNSZTawNsDkg1dA.

How to Deal with Anxiety and Panic Attacks with Youth

This workshop is offered by Jefferson County on Tuesday January 19 at 6:30 p.m. for mentors/leaders/parents and positive youth development professionals who want to learn about helping kids who suffer from anxiety or have panic attacks. Teaching kids how to handle anxiety and the pressure of competition or just life in general is a huge piece of what we do during contests, fair, and on trips out of the county.

This program will be led by Erin Bennetts, an LCSW RPT/S who has her own practice. She specializes in play therapy, parent coaching, and family therapy. She’ll teach us how to deal with this aspect of positive youth development.

Register for the Zoom workshop here.
