Club Achievements 2023

November was a time to celebrate the accomplishments of our club members and leaders over the past 4-H year at the Larimer County 4-H Achievement Night and our November club meeting. So much work and time went into making 2023 a success and we’re so proud of your efforts!

At the county fair, our club had 47 Champions and 25 Reserve Champions for a total of 72! That’s AMAZING! Of those, 18 went on to win Overall Grand Champion or Overall Reserve Grand Champion. And 13 members received the Best Record Book award.

At the Colorado State Fair, our club had 42 entries and 24 received either a Reserve Champion or a Champion and of those, 10 went on to win Overall Grand Champion or Overall Reserve Grand Champion. INCREDIBLE!

At the state level, Beau Reuhlen won Reserve Champion and Caden Powell won Champion at Rocket Fly Day. Avery Kemper took first place in the state digital photo contest.

At the state Shooting Sports competition, we had club members in the top 10 as follows: Bohdan Leppert and Paisley Dennis in Air Pistol; Tori Freeland in Air Rifle: Offhand and Paisley Dennis in Air Rifle: Utility; Willow Cameron, Genesis Rivera, Gideon Rivera, and Walker Cameron in Archery; Walker Cameron in Muzzleloading; and Walker Cameron in all 4 classes of .22 Rifle.

Our club received a Gold certificate for having 75%+ of our members complete the year, which was 80% to be exact.

We passed out completion certificates to all of the members who completed their 4-H year, and our leaders as well.

Volunteers Needed to Transport 4-H Projects to State Fair

We hope you are well and get some rest following the County Fair! Our team is moving right into State Fair, and we are in need of some volunteers to help out.

  • We need 1–2 volunteers to help load and pack projects for the State Fair on August 17th from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at the McKee Building at The Ranch.
  • We need 2 volunteers to travel to Pueblo with us on August 18th to deliver the 4-H projects to the State Fairgrounds.
  • We need 2 volunteers to travel to Pueblo on September 7th to pick up the 4-H projects from the Fairgrounds. Ideally, at least one approved 4-H volunteer who would be comfortable pulling a 16-foot trailer down and back. We will compensate mileage.

Please contact Katie Daywalker by email, or call or text at 970-335-8196 if you are able to help.

We appreciate your help in getting our members’ projects safely to and from the State Fair!

Also, the next Front Range Leaders training opportunity is coming up on Thursday, September 16th at 6:30 p.m. This will be a great training hosted by Arapahoe County Agents on the 4-H Code of Conduct. Register here to participate: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMucuCprzsoGtf37xEOE7I6BblcYmDarqG0.

Photography Key Leader / Jenelle Kemper

We are happy to announce that our club photography leader, Jenelle Kemper, is now the key leader for photography in Larimer County. Jenelle is an experienced photographer whose work you may have seen if you are involved in Shooting Sports. This is Jenelle’s second year with us in Larimer County. She previously volunteered with Plumas County 4-H in California for four years.

There will be county workshops coming up. In the meantime, if you are enrolled in the Photography project, please feel free to reach out to Jenelle via email with questions.

“Train the Agents” Meeting

Now that your Larimer County 4-H Extension team is fully staffed, we invite you to “Train the Agents.”

During this event, you will have the chance to share your valuable feedback on our county’s 4-H program and help to guide the future of our program.

Please register before Monday, March 15 to attend. We will send out some information to prepare for the meeting to all who register.

We will offer other opportunities for feedback from those who cannot attend this session, and we look forward to spending the evening with those who can attend!

Best,
Katie Daywalker and Bailey Schilling
