HCH Club T-shirt Orders 2024

Our club orders shirts for every member, Cloverbud, and leader every OTHER year. We ordered in 2023, so this year we are only ordering for members who are new in 2024.

If you are a family with a new 4-H member, Cloverbud, or leader, please check your email for the link to the special order form for new members. Reach out to info@hch4h.org if you don’t receive it.

All other families are welcome to place an order for a club t-shirt or hoodie at full price.

Orders will be available to pick up at club meetings or with coordination at other 4-H events. Items not picked up by October 1, 2024 will be forfeited back to the club.

The deadline for all orders is May 1, 2024.

Club News for July 23

e-Record Requirements

There are only 38 days until interview judging day! It is coming soooooo fast!

Demonstrations

This is a reminder that two things are required of each 4-H member and should be included in e-Records. The first is a demonstration. We are offering a demonstration night on June 30 and there are still a couple of openings left. We are asking you to limit demonstrations to no more than 5 minutes. The signup is on the club website at hch4h.org under the Signups tab. The demonstration slots during the club meeting on July 10 are full. However, if we need to allow for more slots, let me know and we will accommodate as needed.

Community Service

The second requirement is community service. If you sold carnival tickets or helped at the club booth that day, you have fulfilled the requirement. However, more is better and additional pages attached in the e-Record are welcome. If you are in shooting sports and have helped with setting up or tearing down a range, this is also considered community service.

If you have a few hours to donate in the next week from June 29–July 4, the Foster and Adoptive Families are looking for volunteers to assist in their fireworks tent. The tent is located at the Walmart in North Loveland off of 65th Avenue. Our 4-H members are not allowed to make the actual transactions of sales, but they help customers with fireworks and help with keeping the shelves stocked. Here is the link for the signup – please put 4-H in the comment section: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040a48a5aa2ca7f94-faflc7#/

Club T-Shirts and Hoodies

All the ordered apparel is in. I will bring to the next club meeting, but if you would like it sooner, you can come by my shop or email me and we can meet up at the McKee building. Next week I am at the McKee Building on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and Friday, of course, for Demonstration Night.

Shooting Sports Record Book and Project Workshop

Tonight there is a shooting sports record book workshop at 6:30 in the Berthoud Room in the McKee Building. If you have your e-Record done and you’re ready for me to sign it…AWESOME!

Questions

PLEASE reach out to me if you need help with anything or have any questions!

Club News for May 30

It’s hard to believe that the Larimer County Fair interview judging is only 62 days away. Have you started on your project yet?

Demonstration Night

Have you done your demonstration yet? This is a requirement. We are hosting a Demonstration Night this Friday, June 2 at 5:30 p.m. in the McKee Building. It is a smaller group and I will be more than happy to assist you with a subject and walk you through presenting the demonstration. I have lots of display boards in storage for shooting sports, rabbits, sportfishing, and more that you can certainly use. There is a signup on the club website at hch4h.org/signups.

Project Manuals

The following projects MUST complete a portion of the project manual and turn it in with the fair project:

  • Vet Science,
  • Horseless Horse,
  • Computer Science,
  • Electrics,
  • Small Engines,
  • Woodworking,
  • Entomology,
  • Gardening,
  • Outdoor Adventures,
  • Ceramics,
  • Leadership,
  • Scrapbooking,
  • Home Design.

Metalworking requires extra pictures, beyond the standard 4.

Heritage Arts requires a history report.

It is very important that you have your project manuals—some of you have not picked them up yet.

If you have any questions, please ask—I am here to help.

Discounted Rodeo Tickets and Carnival Wristbands

There is an order form on the club website for rodeo tickets and carnival wristbands at a discounted rate. Go to hch4h.org/signups. The deadline to order is July 25.

Club Shirts

The club shirts are in! I could use help sorting them for each family’s order. If you are available to help, email me at csh@frii.com and let me know the best time, day or evening, and specific day. I would like to get them done sooner rather than later so I can distribute some of them prior to the club meeting. Taking them all to the club meeting is a lot of work!

2023 Club T-Shirt Design

And the WINNER is…

A big thank you to all those who took the time to vote on the club t-shirt design for 2023 and 2024. It was a close race between design #3 and design #4.

An online order form will be coming out in the near future with the ability to order a t-shirt, a hoodie, a zipper hoodie, or any combination. The High Country Handiworkers will cover the cost of a t-shirt for each club member (including Cloverbuds) and leaders.

Club News for March 30

March sure has gone by fast!

4-H Carnival

A huge thank you to every club member who sold carnival tickets and helped the day of the carnival at the club booth. It was truly appreciated. The final numbers should be available at the next club meeting. A short summary our club sold 6,053 tickets! Liam Babcock sold 1,000 tickets himself. Our club averaged $56.05 per member, which is great! Including Liam, we had 8 members sell 100 or more tickets—that’s amazing! We also discussed the club booths at the meeting and got great feedback and positive suggestions for next year’s carnival.

Shooting Sports Leaders

We have three more certified shooting sports leaders in our club, and one newly recertified leader:

  • Brett Dennis – Rifle
  • Walker Cameron – Rifle (Junior Leader)
  • Gideon Rivera – Archery (Junior Leader)
  • Nate Schuelke – Archery (Recertified)

Visual Arts

Our club’s Visual Arts group is having fun. They have started on sculpting including learning how to make the plaster of Paris, then pour it into a mold, and sculpt it. The next meeting is Monday, April 10 at 5:30 p.m.

Foods

The Foods group went on a tour at The Spice and Tea Exchange in Fort Collins in March. The next meeting will be Monday, April 3 at 6:00 p.m.

Scrapbooking

The Scrapbooking group is meeting on Saturday, April 8 at our club’s Scrapbooking leader Barb Hummel’s home in Berthoud. The SignUpGenius is on the website, and the deadline to sign up is Tuesday, April 4.

Beekeeping

On Wednesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m., Beekeeping will have a guest speaker from the Butterfly Pavilion. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Club Calendar

It is very important to check the calendar on the club website for upcoming workshops that might pertain to your project. You can find the calendar at hch4h.org/calendar.

Club Shirts

A wonderful display of artistic talent was shown at March’s meeting when we began the process of choosing the next design for our club t-shirts. Each club member present voted for their favorite 2. The selections were narrowed to a final 4. These 4 are posted on the club website so club members can place their votes. The voting will close at the end of the day tomorrow, Friday, March 31. We will announce the winner at the club meeting on April 10. After that time, we will post a form for members, leaders, and Cloverbuds to place their orders. We will offer T-shirts, hoodies, and zipper Hoodies with the new design. The club covers the cost of one t-shirt per member, Cloverbud, and leader.

Community Service

Remember, every club member must participate in a community service project for 4-H. This is very simple. If you participated in the 4-H Carnival by selling your tickets or volunteering at the club booth, you have fulfilled this requirement. We also had the Wreaths Across America project. We wrapped presents at the December meeting. And if you help with range setup or tear down at a shooting sport practice, this also fulfills this requirement. Keep track of these!

Demonstrations

Every club member must present a demonstration. Sign up on the club website. This can also be completed at a Cloverbud meeting (prior permission is required). Due to the large enrollment numbers in our club, I will allow members to work with other club members. If you are doing a demonstration outside of a club meeting, prior approval must be obtained. Please do no wait until the July club meeting!. I am trying to book another opportunity or two, but scheduling is a challenge.

Shooting Sports Orientations

  • Air Rifle, Air Pistol, .22 Rifle, .22 Pistol Orientation – Friday, March 31 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Archery Orientation – Saturday, April 1 at 9:00 a.m.
  • Shotgun Orientation – Tuesday, April 4 at 5:30 p.m.
  • Muzzleloading Orientation – Wednesday, April 5 at 5:30 p.m. or Sunday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.

These are the final opportunities for these orientations. If you do not fulfill this requirement as a new member (or a returning member adding the discipline), you will not be allowed to attend county practices and county shoots. However, you can and should still complete the projects.

Wear Your Club Shirt, Meet Other Members

Remember, if you have a club t-shirt, please wear it to 4-H events, practices, and activities. Let’s get to know each other. I love seeing so many of you outside of club meetings.

Vote for a Club T-Shirt Design

Our club orders shirts for club members, Cloverbuds, and leaders every other year, and this is our year to create a new design.

Thank you to everyone who created and submitted ideas for this year’s design! These four designs were chosen as the finalists at the March 2023 meeting.

Members: Please vote for your favorite design as numbered.
Parents: Please ask your 4-H member to choose their favorite design and submit one vote per member.

Deadline: Voting will close at the end of the day on Friday, March 31.

February 2023 Meeting Recap

Thank you all for attending the High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club meeting held on Monday, February 13.

My apologies for the meeting location. Being in the McKee Building’s Exhibit Hall is not easy, since it is challenging to hear. Thank you, Sharel, for bringing a microphone—it did help. We were asked by The Ranch staff to change our meeting location from the usual location in the classrooms to the Exhibit Hall.

Project Manuals

Those who attended should have received their project manuals. There are a few project manuals on backorder. Shooting Sports does NOT have project manuals. If you were not in attendance, please let me know when you would like to get your manuals.

Upcoming Events

The 4-H year is now well underway. Be sure to read the Clover Connection for upcoming workshops. Check the club website for an up-to-date calendar of events.

Finishing Enrollment

There are a few members who started enrollment but have not completed, mostly due to enrollment fees not being paid. If you are struggling with getting enrollment complete, please see the club website for further instructions. If you are struggling financially, please email me and we will get a financial waiver filled out.

Adding/Dropping Projects

A sheet was circulated at the club meeting showing each member’s name and the projects they enrolled in. Members were asked to cross out any projects they are no longer interested in and to write in any projects to add. I must have this information by February 25 to compile the list and submit it to the Extension Office. If you were not present, be sure to send me any projects to be added or dropped before February 25.

4-H Carnival

Tickets

Carnival tickets were distributed at the meeting. All members who were enrolled as of January 31 are expected to sell their 25 tickets for $1.00 each. Tickets and funds should be turned in prior to the carnival if at all possible. If you need to pick up tickets or turn in funds, I am out at The Ranch on several occasions including Archery practice on Tuesday evenings. Or you can come to my shop in Berthoud from Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. If you are not able to turn funds in prior to the carnival then they must be turned in at the Carnival on March 4. Please place the tickets in numerical order in a Ziploc baggy or an envelope labeled with the member’s name.

Volunteer at the Carnival

Our club is hosting four booths. We need every club member to sign up on the SignupGenius on the club website to volunteer at the booths. We are really lacking support in the afternoon from 12:45–4:00 p.m. as of right now. We need parents available throughout the day to count the tickets that are collected and help replenish the prize table. Suzanne Leypoldt will be heading up the project, but she needs to leave early. I need another parent who can be there most of the day to help her and to close down the booth, including packing up any leftover prizes and helping get everything returned to Construction Supply House. The carnival is our club fundraiser so we need everyone’s support.

Ready Prizes

We need to ready the prizes for our carnival booths. If you are available, please plan to come help on Sunday, February 26 from 1:00–2:30 at my shop, Construction Supply House, in Berthoud. We will sort through the prizes and designate them as Prize 1, 2, or 3, and pack them up for transport. Please email me to RSVP if you can come to help: csh@frii.com.

Club T-Shirt Ideas

At the meeting in March, we will select a new design for our club t-shirts. Club members are encouraged to come up with their own designs and bring them to the club meeting in March. Please create it on an 8 ½” x 11″ paper or larger. The club will select a design as well as the color for the shirts. Every club member (including Cloverbuds and leaders) will receive a club t-shirt paid for by the club. This is where our fundraising goes, and we select a new design for the club shirts every two years.

Parade Theme Ideas

The Larimer County Fair Board is requesting parade theme ideas from 4-H clubs. Each club is allowed one submittal. Please submit your suggestions to me by March 10. The club with the winning idea will have its parade entry fee paid by the Fair Board.

March Meeting

The next meeting will be on March 13 at 7:00 p.m. See you then!

(Remember to read the meeting minutes. This is just a brief recap, but the minutes will include all the details.)
