Larimer County 4-H Open House 2021

The 4-H Open House is coming up on Monday, October 18 from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the McKee Building at The Ranch (5280 Arena Circle, Loveland, Colorado).

Spread the word to your friends and family who might be interested in learning about 4-H in Larimer County!

Enrollment Help

There are many members whose enrollment is NOT complete because it has not been correctly submitted on the new 4HOnline system (v2.4honline.com).

The new system is a little confusing for us all. The system requires you to verify how you’re paying the enrollment fee, though Larimer County does not accept payment on 4HOnline. Please see this instruction sheet to walk you through the required options to finish the enrollment process and submit it to Larimer County 4-H.

Payment for the enrollment fee is accepted via check mailed to the Larimer County Extension Office at 1525 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80524 or via PayPal at this link:

https://forms.logiforms.com/formdata/user_forms/74846_2296047/366695/page1.html

The enrollment deadline is coming up quickly on March 15.

If you have any questions, please contact either club leader Cindy or Pam Heeney at the Extension office.

Enrollment Fee Help from Foundation

Is your family struggling with the decision about whether to join 4-H this year due to concerns about paying the fees?

The Larimer County 4-H Foundation received a grant many years ago to help youth in Larimer County who wanted to participate in 4-H but struggled with the fees. The grant stipulated that any youth who wanted to participate in 4-H should be able to do so and that finances should never be a deterrent.

There is a financial form to complete. It is a standard reduced lunch form that is simply for our record keeping. If your family is in need of assistance, please fill out the form. We do not want youth to miss participating due to finances. You know your family situation better than anyone. We as a Foundation would never question it.

Please FILL OUT THE FORM. We are here and happy to help. Download the form here.

2021 Enrollment Update

The enrollment deadlines are fast approaching. Make sure your family doesn’t miss out.

Market beef project: You must enroll by February 15th and bring your animal to the February 16th weigh day (more details to come) to meet ownership guidelines for the project.

Shooting Sports project: You must enroll before you will be able to attend Shooting Sports practices.

“5 Things No One Tells You About 4-H”

It’s hard to explain what 4-H is about and what it’s like if you and your family have never taken part in the program. This article does a great job of giving some insight into the lessons that will be learned, and the involvement needed from not just 4-H members, but 4-H families.

Here is an excerpt of the five things the article mentions, but take a moment to read the entire article here.

1. It’s not about you.

When you join 4-H, you’ll quickly be introduced to the concept of service.

2. It means long hours and late nights.

4-H is a time commitment. But through 4-H, I learned going the extra mile is worth it.

3. You will feel scared sometimes.

4-H will put your nerves to the test.

4. You will fail.

4-H teaches you to pick yourself up when you fall.

5. You can’t have it all.

4-H will make you choose. You can’t sign up for every project and every activity. It’s just not possible to do it all, even if you want to. 4-H taught me it’s not about saying no, it’s about saying yes to the better thing at that point in time.

Enrollment for 2021 will open in Larimer County on November 1. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about 4-H and enrollment.

Returning Members Enrollment Reminder

If you have not enrolled, please visit 4HOnline.com. And then either pay via check at the club meeting or online on the Join 4-H page on the Larimer County Extension website. Fees are $50 per enrollee. There are financial waivers available, so ask Cindy if you have questions.

We also need leaders to complete their enrollment!
