April 2019 Meeting Minutes

Submitted by secretary, Grace Gray. 

The meeting of the High Country Handiworkers was called to order as 7:09 p.m. on April 8, 2019 by Treasurer Lizzy Fetzer.

The pledges were led by Jessie McCrimmon  and Morgan Copeland.

Roll call was taken by Secretary Grace Gray and the question was, “Have you looked at your e-records yet?”

Delaney Newby moved to approve the minutes as posted on the club website. Seconded and APPROVED.

The treasurer’s report was led by Lizzy Fetzer: checking=$5,802.37 and savings=$3,955.05.

A discussion was held about the club’s finances. A motion was made to invest $2,000 into a Certificate of Deposit. Seconded and APPROVED.

The reporter’s report was given by Walker Cameron. March’s meeting report was submitted to the Coloradoan and Reporter-Herald as well as social media and the club’s website.

The sunshine report was given by Eden Copeland, and six members are celebrating birthdays in April.

Lacey Adams gave the Cloverbud report. They played carnival games and learned about the whistle commands used in archery practices. They also got goodie bags with animal crackers and prizes inside.

The club also went over more Parliamentary Procedure led by Rob Ryan.

Leaders Report:

The Carmen Johnson Scholarship is due May 1. It gives scholarships to 4-H members for items they need to complete their projects.

Cloverbuds can attend a workshop about Performing Arts on Wednesday, April 10.

Dog ID forms are due May 1 for those in the Dog project.

Amanda Kendrot is the new superintendent for Dog.

Nick Freeland completed certification to be a junior leader for Rifle. Rex and Nate Rogers also completed new certifications.

The club learned about 4-H by playing trivia: when 4-H started, where the National office is, when it started in Colorado, etc.

Old Business:

4-H Carnival – Cindy recapped the results from the carnival. Our club had three of the top individual ticket sellers and our club sold 3,605 tickets total. Our four baskets from $1,160 total.

Club Shirts – The club covers the cost of t-shirts for members, Cloverbuds, and leaders. Make sure you get your order in.

Demonstration Night – Sign up for a slot at Demonstration Night on June 1 at 6:00 p.m. There will only be 15 demonstrations that evening.

Bowling Trip – The club is going bowling at Sweetheart Lanes on April 27 at 12:00 p.m. RSVP on the club website.

Foods Field Trip – Club members are invited to a field trip to AKA Kitchen on April 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Downtown Loveland.

New Business:

Project Manuals – Manuals have been ordered and members will be notified by email when they’re available.

Weigh Days – Livestock weigh days are coming up for Goat and Sheep on April 29 from 4–7 p.m.

Archery State Shoot – The date has been set for August 17 for Juniors and August 18 for Seniors. It will be held in a new location in Colorado City, south of Pueblo about 20 miles.

Community Service – We have several community service days coming up. McKee building Painting Day is June 1 at 9:00 a.m. Lon Hagler Cleanup Day is May 4 at 8:00 a.m. Berthoud Day of Kindness is this Saturday, April 13 at Gateway Park at 11:00 a.m. Rob Ryan is coordinating and members can work booths.

April 2019 Meeting Report

​The High Country Handiworkers 4-H Club met on Monday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the McKee Building at the Ranch in Loveland, Colorado.

Our club leader, Cindy Buckardt went over results from the 4-H Carnival. Our club had three of the top ticket sellers and our club sold a total of 3,605 tickets. The club’s game booths brought in 5,000+ tickets and our four baskets brought in $1,160. All of the members did a good job of selling their tickets and making the carnival a success.

The club has upcoming events like a bowling afternoon, community services projects, a demonstration night, and a Foods project field trip.

The county is looking for a theme for this year’s fair parade.

There was one demonstration about pigs.

The next meeting will be on May 13 at 7:00 p.m.

Foods Field Trip to AKA Kitchen

Foods project members and any other HCH club members who are interested are invited to tour the AKA Kitchen on Saturday, April 27 at 3:00 p.m. Meet us at 414 East 6th Street in Loveland.

Club Shirt Deadline Extended

Deadline extended until Friday, April 12.
 
The deadline to order shirts is this Monday, April 8.
 
We only place this order once every two years!

The shirts will be Sport Grey.

T-shirts = $10 each.
Hoodies = $20 each.
Zip Hoodies = $25 each.

The club covers the cost of a t-shirt for each club member, Cloverbud member, and leader. This can be $10 for the entire cost of a t-shirt. Or the club will pay $10 toward a hoodie or zipper hoodie and you are responsible for the difference of $10 or $15.

Parents are welcome to order shirts for themselves and siblings as well. Please plan to pay Cindy by cash or check made out to 4-H by the April 8 deadline (at the club meeting).
